Wonderland Top Students - 2024

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between WAW & WEB?

The WAW Competition is built around a gamified learning adventure. Students earn points and trophies through various channels—course quizzes, team projects, speaking and writing challenges, exams, and more. Their performance is tracked on international leaderboards, where they are ranked based on the total points accumulated throughout their learning journey.

In contrast, the WEB Olympiad is solely based on two exam rounds. Participation in the optional preparation course is available, but not required.

What is the WEB & WAW Bundle?

Students can enroll in both the WAW Competition and the WEB Olympiad to maximize their chances of winning. They receive access to one comprehensive 120-hour course, which serves a dual purpose: helping them earn points for the WAW Competition and prepare for the WEB Olympiad exams.

What is the Wonderland English Bees (WEB) Olympiad?

The WEB Olympiad is a global English language competition aimed at students aged 6 to 19. It promotes language proficiency and cross-cultural connections through comprehensive assessments in grammar, vocabulary, spelling, reading, listening, speaking, and writing.

Who can participate in the WEB Olympiad?

The competition is open to students in grades 1-12, with categories divided by age and skill level to ensure fair and appropriate competition.

What are the categories in the WEB Olympiad?

  • WEB One: Grade 1-2 (Beginners/A1-A2 Young Learners)
  • WEB Two: Grade 3-4 (Elementary Level/A1-A2)
  • WEB Three: Grade 5-6 (Pre-Intermediate Level/B1)
  • WEB Four: Grade 7-8 (Intermediate/B2)
  • WEB Five: Grade 9-10 (Advanced/C1)
  • WEB Six: Grade 11-12 (Proficient/C2)

Is there a preparation course available for participants?

Yes, participants can purchase a 100-hour interactive preparation course designed to enhance grammar and vocabulary skills through games, animated videos, and engaging activities. This course is included in the WEB Olympiad Package.

What does the competition entail?

The competition consists of two rounds: the International Qualifiers and the Global Finals. Qualifiers are held online and assess various language skills. The top performers qualify for the Global Finals in Hurghada, Egypt, which includes more comprehensive testing, fun activities and the Grand Awards Ceremony.

What is the difference between WAW & WEB?

No, plane tickets are not included. Participants are responsible for arranging their own airfare to and from the global finals location.

What is the format of the exams?

  • International Qualifiers: Online auto-proctored exam featuring multiple-choice questions, matching, fill-in-the-blanks, rewriting tasks, and short-answer questions.
  • Global Finals: Paper-based exams with similar formats plus writing tasks.

What are the durations of the exams?

Depending on the category level, the qualifiers last 30-60 minutes, and the finals range from 45-90 minutes.

What are the registration fees for the WEB Olympiad Global Finals?

The registration fee for the Global Finals in Romania, Indonesia or Egypt will be announced in January 2026. It will cover full-board accommodation at a luxury resort, the final examination, student activities, and participation in the award ceremony.

Are plane tickets included in the Global Finals registration fees?
