What is Wonderland Competition?

International Competition

Wonderland is a global educational competition organized by TEFL Wonderland in Canada. The competition unites students from more than 45 countries.

Global Learning Adventure

In Wonderland Competition, students interact with other competition participants, collaborate on team projects, hare insights, and build a global community of learners.

Gamified Adventures

Wonderland utilizes highly interactive games and animated videos to turn learning English into an exhilarating adventure.

Points and Leaderboards

In Wonderland, students are not merely passive learners; they are active participants in their language journey. They earn points through quizzes, assignments, challenges and team projects, with results contributing to their ranking on international leaderboards.

6-19 Years Old

The competition is open internationally to students aged 6 to 19 years old. They are classified based on their grade, age, and English level.

Grand Prize &
Awards Ceremony

The top 10 students on each leaderboard (and all medalists) are invited to take a final test covering all language skills. The top scorer from each international leaderboard wins a free trip to attend the awards ceremony or a rewarding cash prize. The top scorer across all leaderboards wins a 10-day trip to Canada.

Active Learning &
Course Quizzes
Contestants earn points and trophies for regularly checking and participating in the course. They also earn 2-10 points when scoring more than 85% in each of the course quizzes.

Wonderland Forum Challenges
Wonderland Champions participate in forum challenges, which involve creating speaking videos, completing grammar and vocabulary quizzes, and tackling writing challenges.

Preliminary Round
January 2026
All participants sit for an invigilated exam during January 2026. They earn points and medals based on their test scores (Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals/300, 150, 50 points).

Final Round
February 2026
All medalists and the top 10 students from each leaderboard are invited to take a comprehensive test that covers the four core language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Wonderland Awards

Winners and their teachers will receive the following awards.

  • The top WAW Champion, who accumulates the highest points, trophies, and medals across all international leaderboards, will receive free enrollment in the Wonderland Niagara Camp in Canada.

  • The top student on each leaderboard in the WAW Competition will receive an invitation to the WAW Grand Awards Ceremony – a prestigious event held at a luxurious resort in Romania or Indonesia.

  • The top 5 students will receive a 15% discount on the Niagara Falls Leadership and STEM Camp, while the next 15 students will enjoy a 10% discount.

  • All top 10 students from each leaderboard receive certificates acknowledging their international ranking.

  • Teachers from the schools of the top 10 students on each leaderboard receive a 15% discount on all TEFL Wonderland qualifications and training programs (valid for six months.)

  • Top performers, winners, and their schools are featured on the TEFL Wonderland Wall of Fame and other digital platforms.

This 120-hour gamified course offers a playful and immersive journey through the English language, featuring 4 engaging zones: Vocabulary Jungle for discovering new words, Grammar Circus with animations and games for mastering grammar, Skills Theme Park for boosting listening, speaking, and reading skills, and Writing Wizards for crafting sentences and perfecting spelling and punctuation.

It features 4 exciting zones: Vocabulary Jungle for expanding your vocabulary, Grammar Circus with videos and games for mastering grammar and additional tenses, Skills Theme Park for boosting listening, speaking, and reading skills, and Writing Wizards for constructing sentences and perfecting spelling and punctuation.

This 120-hour gamified intermediate course offers a dynamic journey through four immersive zones: Vocabulary Jungle for mastering new words, collocations, and phrasal verbs; Grammar Arena with animated videos and games to simplify complex rules; Magic Kingdom for enhancing listening and reading skills; and Movie Theatre to craft narratives and express thoughts with clarity and creativity.

What is Wonderland Competition?

What is covered in Wonderland gamified adventures?

Each of Wonderland gamified courses is divided into different zones covering vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, speaking and writing. 

Who is eligible to enroll in Wonderland Competition?

The Wonderland Competition is open internationally to students aged 6 to 19 years old. Participants should be able to read independently, as the exams are conducted without assistance from parents or teachers.

How are students categorized? Is there a placement test to decide their English proficiency level?

Participants are classified into 10 groups (regular and special categories) and 6 Leaderboards based on their school grade, age, and English proficiency.

The competition consists of four gamified English courses, each covering different CEFR proficiency levels and containing engaging zones and themes.

To ensure proper placement, students can optionally take the Wonderland Placement Test to confirm their English proficiency level.

How can students prepare for the Wonderland exams?

Each participant in Wonderland Competition is enrolled in a gamified 120-hour English proficiency course.

Courses are designed in alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), ensuring a standardized and internationally recognized approach to language learning.

Each course has unique zones with specific themes, such as Lexical Jungle, Theme Park and Grammar Circus. Each zone includes quizzes, interactive games, and animated videos covering vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, writing and speaking skills.

How can students collect points in Wonderland?

Students collect points, gain ranks and earn trophies throughout their journey in Wonderland, contributing to their ranking on the international leaderboards assigned for each level. The following are the categories and corresponding point structures:

Active Learning

  • Checking the Course Daily: 2 points
  • Commitment Trophy (5 points): Awarded for regularly checking and participating in the course.

Course Quizzes

  • Scoring 95-100% in a Quiz: 10 points
  • Scoring 90-94% in a Quiz: 5 points
  • Scoring 85-89% in a Quiz: 2 points

Writing Assignments

  • Writing Excellence Trophy (20 points): Awarded for submitting an excellent writing task.
  • Writing Mastery Trophy (40 points): Awarded for submitting an outstanding writing assignment.
  • Global Voice Trophy (10 points): Awarded for writing a review of a course.

Forum Challenges

  • Forum Challenge Trophy (10 points): Awarded for winning a challenge on the Group Forum or Telegram Group.

Speaking Challenges

  • Speaking Excellence Trophy (20 points): Awarded for submitting an excellent video in a speaking challenge.
  • Speaking Mastery Trophy (40 points): Awarded for submitting the best video in a speaking challenge.

Special Awards

  • Business Leader Award (50 points)
  • Global Changemaker Award (50 points)

Is there a specific test to win this competition?

Preliminary Round

All participants sit for an invigilated exam in the first week of August. They earn points and medals based on their test scores:

  • Gold Medal (300 points) = Scoring 90-100%
  • Silver Medal (150 points) = Scoring 80-89%
  • Bronze Medal (50 points)=Scoring 70-879%

Final Round

The top 10 students from each leaderboard and all medalists are invited to take a comprehensive, remotely
invigilated test that covers the four core language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. 
The final test is scheduled to be during the third week of August.

The score for this final exam is calculated by adding 10% of each student's total accumulated points to their final test grade.

The outcome of the exam determines the final ranking of the top students on each leaderboard, which guides the selection of winners and their respective awards.

What is WAW Grand Prize?

The top WAW champion (across all international leaderboards) gets free enrollment in Wonderland STEM and Leadership Camp in Niagara Falls, Canada (worth 3000$).

Is there an Awards Ceremony?

Yes, the top student on each leaderboard in the WAW Competition will receive an invitation to the WAW Grand Awards Ceremony – a prestigious event held at a luxurious resort.

What’s Included:

  • Full-Board Accommodation: Winners will enjoy a comfortable stay with all meals and snacks provided.
  • Exciting Activities: They will also participate in engaging events and exclusive experiences designed for young achievers.

What will winners get?

1- Cash Awards:

The top student from each international leaderboard receives a cash prize if they are unable to travel to attend the Awards Ceremony.

2- Wonderland STEM and Leadership Camp in Niagara Falls:

The top 5 students per leaderboard receive a 15% discount, and the next 15 get 10% off the Niagara Falls Camp.

3- Wonderland International Ranking Certificates
All top 10 students from each leaderboard receive certificates acknowledging
their international ranking.

4- Teacher Discounts:
Teachers from the schools of the top 10 students on each leaderboard receive a
15% discount on all TEFL Wonderland qualifications and training programs
(valid for six months.)

5- Wall of Fame and Digital Platforms:
